Job Description:
A health services organization in New York City is currently
seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team in
Manhattan as their new -Nurse Navigator - Oncology. In this role,
the Nurse Navigator (RN) will be responsible for supporting
patients and their families in accessing needed services, including
registration, scheduling, and general appointment services for
their facility.
About the Opportunity:
- Specialty: Oncology -
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pm
- Call Schedule: None
Responsibilities:
- Guide patients throughout their treatment course and help
facilitate the planning, scheduling, and implementation of
day-to-day clinical activities
- Coordinate chemotherapy appointments with proton therapy
appointments
- Arrange referrals and appointments for -patients with other
medical providers, including surgeons, medical oncologists, medical
subspecialists, gynecologists, dentists, etc.
- Coordinate efforts between patients and the clinical
team
- Provide education to patients and their families and arrange
for outside resources, as needed
- Collaborate with Physicians and other clinical personnel in
patient evaluations to further the understanding of social and
emotional factors underlying patient's health problems
- Inform patients of services and provide them with education
materials
- Communicate directly with patients and keep them informed of
scheduled appointments
- Monitor patient adherence to their medical appointments and
notify physicians and other staff of compliance concerns
- Educate patients on policies concerning covered services and
emergency procedures
- Provide critical feedback to other members of the clinical team
based on -observations by participating in multi-disciplinary team
meetings
- Monitor patient satisfaction surveys / complaints
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Solid assessment and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- 3+ years of Clinical and/or Medical Office experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Prior experience in an Oncology role/setting
- Strong -IV placement skills
