Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group
Practice Clinical Histo Tech I (35).
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for maintaining
the workflow in the main laboratory and/or immunoperoxidase
laboratory and includes directing all technical and clerical
personnel. Be a resource for technical expertise to all technical
and clerical personnel in the laboratory. Performs tests requiring
special scientific skills, and, in the absence of a supervisor,
will be responsible for the proper performance and documentation of
all procedures in the routine laboratory and/or immunoperoxidase
section of the laboratory. Performs laboratory procedures and
examinations pursuant to established and approved protocols of the
Dermatopathology Laboratory, including maintaining equipment and
records, and perform quality assurance activities related to
examination performance, which require the exercise of independent
judgment and responsibility. Performs tests in specialties or
subspecialties in which they are qualified by education, training
and experience. Expertise in procedures and protocols of specimen
preparation for histological examination and perform more
complicated special stains and/or immunoperoxidase techniques;
helps in the training of laboratory personnel; helps with quality
control and quality assurance and documentation; and provides
supervisory support to technologists, technicians and clerical
personnel in instances when a supervisor is absent.
Job Responsibilities:
* Under the direction of the Technical Coordinator and/or
Laboratory Supervisors, the Senior Histology Technologist is
responsible for maintaining the workflow in the main laboratory
and/or immunoperoxidase laboratory and includes directing all
technical and clerical personnel.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Helps Laboratory Coordinator and/or Laboratory Supervisor with
monitoring and documentation of quality control and quality
assurance records.
* Uses independent judgment in evaluating the quality of slides and
stains or in evaluating the equipments performance.
* Helps maintain all laboratory equipment and trouble shoot when
required.
* Helps to monitor and control workflow.
* Implements schedules, work assignments, and workflow determined
by the Laboratory Coordinator and/or Supervisor in their
absence.
* Expertise in special stains in addition to Dako Autostainer
and/or immunoperoxidase techniques and enzyme histochemistry.
* Implements and insures that established procedures are followed.
General laboratory protocols. Safety protocols. Proper use and
maintenance of equipment. Proper storage of chemicals and
reagents.
* Monitors quality control and laboratory outputs; investigate and
resolve technical problems.
* Helps train technologists, technicians and support staff in all
the areas of the laboratory.
* May have expertise in either the routine laboratory and/or the
immunoperoxidase section.
* Expertise in procedures and protocols of specimen preparation.
Perform procedures with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:B.A./B.S. in
medical technology from an accredited institution; or B.A./B.S. in
biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited
institution and must hold licensure as a clinical laboratory
technologist granted by the New York State Education Department;
ASCP-HT/HTL certification is not required but is preferred. A
minimum of two years of pertinent laboratory experience and/or
training in a histology laboratory as a technologist is required.
Knowledge of all aspects of routine histology and/or
immunoperoxidase techniques is required. Licensure as a clinical
laboratory technologist by the New York State Education Department
based on the Special Provisions (Grandparenting) of Part 79-13.4 of
the Regulations of the Commissioner. ASCP-HT/HTL certification is
not required but is preferred. A minimum of five years of pertinent
laboratory experience and/or training in a histology laboratory as
a technologist is required. Knowledge of all aspects of routine
histology and/or immunoperoxidase techniques is required..

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New
York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The
salary range for the role is $76,721.84 - $85,280.00 Annually.
Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including
experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary
range or contractual rate listed does not include
bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation
or benefits.
