Job Description:
Cohen Children's Medical Center, part of Northwell Health, is
seeking an exceptional and dynamic individual to serve as the Chief
of the Division of General Pediatric Surgery . This is a truly

pediatric surgical care on Long Island and beyond. This is more

mentor the next generation of pediatric surgical leaders. The
Division of General Pediatric Surgery at Cohen Children's Medical
Center provides comprehensive surgical care for infants, children,
and adolescents across the full spectrum of pediatric general and
thoracic surgical conditions. We are renowned for our expertise and
extensive training in: Minimally Invasive Surgery : Utilizing
advanced techniques to optimize outcomes and recovery. Surgical
Oncology : Collaborating closely with our robust oncology program
to provide integrated care. Pediatric & Adolescent Colorectal
Center : Delivering specialized surgical interventions for complex
IBD cases and congenital malformations. Neonatal & Fetal Surgery :
Offering expert care for critically ill newborns requiring surgical
intervention. Trauma & Acute Care Surgery : Supporting
Extracorporeal Life Support (ECMO) for comprehensive surgical care.
You will lead a team of 12 highly skilled and dedicated
general/trauma pediatric surgeons, strategically located across
different markets we serve from Westchester to Suffolk County. This
role offers the unique blend of clinical leadership, strategic
development, academic responsibility, and administrative oversight
within a rapidly growing and nationally recognized institution.

to Redefine Medical Education As Chief, you will hold an academic
appointment at The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at
Hofstra/Northwell, providing a direct connection to medical
education and research. Cohen Children's Medical Center is the
primary clinical site for the school’s two-year clinical fellowship
training program in pediatric surgery . Candidate Qualifications
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following
qualifications and experience: Education and Experience Board
Certification in Pediatric Surgery by the American Board of
Surgery. Eligibility for an unrestricted New York State Medical
License. Significant experience in clinical pediatric surgery (7
years), with a strong track record of leadership and administrative
responsibilities in an academic medical center or a large, complex
healthcare system. Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence,
patient safety, and quality improvement. Proven ability to lead,
mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Strong academic
credentials, with a history of teaching, research, and scholarly
publications. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and
presentation skills. A collaborative spirit and the ability to work
effectively across disciplines and departments Capabilities
Strategic Leadership : Developing and implementing a strategic
vision for the Division, aligning with the mission and goals of
Cohen Children's Medical Center and Northwell Health. Clinical
Excellence: Ensuring the highest standards of clinical care,
patient safety, and quality outcomes across all surgical services.
Programmatic Growth : Identifying and developing new clinical
programs, expanding existing services, and fostering
interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the evolving needs of our
patient population. Academic and Research Leadership: Fostering a
robust academic environment, promoting clinical research, scholarly
activity, and educational initiatives. Collaborating with The
Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell
to strengthen the Pediatric General Surgery Fellowship Program.
Faculty Recruitment and Development : Recruiting, mentoring, and
retaining highly talented pediatric surgeons and advanced practice
providers, fostering their professional growth and development.
Operational and Financial Management: Overseeing the efficient and
fiscally responsible operation of the Division, including resource
allocation and budget management. Relationship Building:
Cultivating strong relationships with other divisions, departments,
referring physicians, and community partners. Advocacy and
Representation : Serving as a leading voice for pediatric surgical
services within the institution, health system, and broader medical
