weeks Shift: 7am - 7:30pm Hours per Shift: 34.5 Experience: Minimum
of 2 years in a pediatric setting with cardiac experience License:
Registered Nurse license in Client Certifications: Basic Life
Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS),
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have: Relevant clinical
competence in pediatric nursing Description: The Pediatric Clinical
Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe,
competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a
designated group of patients and significant others. Delivers
patient care by incorporating the tenets of professional practice
and through the application of the nursing process based upon
theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Assesses and
evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills
in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and
intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates
with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development,
implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all
aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and
plan post-hospital care while delegating to others as appropriate.
Educates patients and caregivers while anticipating needs and
readiness to learn about their plan of care, transitions in care,
health promotion, and disease prevention. Communicates effectively
and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the
interdisciplinary patient care team. Manages assignments within the
Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and effectively
allocates material resources. Role models the tenets of
Relationship Centered Care through various actions including
admission welcome, bedside shift report, purposeful hourly
rounding, and collaboration with team members. Considers patients'
values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and
knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains
therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Uses
evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients'
perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and
family members who have concerns and escalates them to appropriate
management or patient relations as needed. Demonstrates caring,
respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through
dialogue, body language, and actions. Supports staff in using
evidence-based practices to improve understanding of patient
perceptions of care. Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on
assigned patients addressing the four Ps: Pain, Potty, Position,
and Proximity. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care,
identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for
improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to
quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements
process improvement strategies based on institutional and
evidence-based measures. Engages in formal and informal peer and
institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary
teams to create and implement quality improvement projects,
evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.
Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance
measures. Implements principles of high reliability to identify and
avoid high-risk behaviors to ensure a safe environment for
patients. Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps from best
practice following established protocols. Utilizes institutional
information technology by documenting nursing practice to support
quality and performance improvement initiatives. Demonstrates
interpersonal skills and effective communication to work
effectively in a team. Ability to read, write, understand, and
speak English clearly and concisely. Possesses visual, physical,
auditory, and cognitive abilities to assess patient status.
Maintains physical and mental health necessary to care for acutely
ill patients with a variety of diagnoses and behaviors on a daily
basis. Ability to respond quickly in various situations for
extended periods. Demonstrates manual dexterity to perform a
variety of clinical procedures relevant to practice area. Ability
to use basic data entry and electronic medical record documentation
systems proficiently. Must have pediatric experience.
