Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Rehabilitation
Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of rehabilitation and mechanical
ventilation experience Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: Basic Life
Support (BLS) Must-Have: Experience with spinal cord injuries
Medical-surgical experience Bachelor of Science in Nursing
preferred (Associate degree considered with relevant experience)
Description: Delivers patient care by incorporating the principles
of professional practice and the nursing process based on theory,
research, and evidence-based practice. Assesses and evaluates
patient care needs using critical thinking skills in patient
management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills
in delivering nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary
healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Prioritizes all aspects of patient care, including teaching,
planning, and delegating to others as appropriate. Educates
patients and caregivers about their plan of care, promoting health
and preventing disease. Communicates effectively and professionally
with patients, families, and team members. Manages assignments
within the nursing delivery model and allocates resources
effectively. Facilitates actions that reflect relationship-centered
care, including admission welcome, bedside shift report, and
purposeful rounding. Considers patients’ values, preferences, and
cultural diversity in all aspects of care. Establishes and
maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and their
families. Uses evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of
patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for
concerns and escalates to appropriate management as needed.
Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, and active listening in
all interactions. Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on assigned
patients. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care by
identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement.
Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and
safety in the patient population served. Implements process
improvement strategies based on evidence and institutional
procedures. Engages in formal and informal peer review processes.
Collaborates with teams to create and implement quality improvement
projects and research studies. Contributes to quality and safety
practices and compliance measures. Implements principles of high
reliability to provide a safe environment for patients. Escalates
potential safety hazards following institutional protocol. Utilizes
information technology for documentation to support quality
improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned
and coordinates supply utilization for patient care. Documents
accurately in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to the
environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and
families. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice.
Projects a professional image and communicates in a caring and
respectful manner. Incorporates ethical principles in decision
making for patients and families. Encourages lifelong learning and
innovation in oneself and others. Acquires knowledge and skills
relevant to the role and patient population. Participates in shared
decision making through nursing committees and unit initiatives.
