Oncology experience required License: Licensed as a Registered
Nurse with current registration in Client Certifications: BLS;
ACLS; APHON or CPON highly preferred Must-Have: BSN Description:
Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the
professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. Applies
the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based
practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. Assesses
and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking
skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment
and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the
development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching,
rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating to
others as appropriate. Educates patients and caregivers about their
plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and
prevention of disease while anticipating their needs and readiness
to learn. Communicates effectively and professionally with
patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary
Patient Care Team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery
Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrates effective
allocation of material resources. Projects a professional image to
colleagues and communicates in styles and methods that demonstrate
caring, respect, compassion, and empathy. Incorporates ethical
principles into decision-making for patients and families.
Encourages and demonstrates a spirit of scholarship, inquiry,
lifelong learning, and innovation for self and others. Role models
the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through facilitation of
various patient care actions. Considers patients' values,
preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in
all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic
relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based
practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of
care. Initiates service recovery for patients and families who have
concerns and escalates to appropriate management as needed.
Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active
listening. Supports staff in using evidence-based practices to
improve understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Conducts
Purposeful Hourly Rounding on assigned patients addressing their
needs. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care,
identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for
improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to
quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements
process improvement strategies based on evidence-based practices
and institutional procedures. Engages in peer and institutional
review processes formally and informally. Collaborates with
interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement
projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research
studies. Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance
measures. Implements principles of high reliability to identify and
avoid high-risk behaviors to provide a safe environment for
patients. Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps in best
practice following established protocol. Utilizes institutional
information technology to document nursing practice to support
quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrates the ability to
organize information and teach others. Shows relevant clinical
competence in the assigned area of nursing practice. Maintains
interpersonal relationships and communicates appropriately to
resolve problems. Demonstrates effective teamwork and critical
thinking abilities. Shows physical and mental health necessary to
care for acutely ill patients. Has the ability to respond quickly
in a variety of situations. Possesses manual dexterity to perform
clinical procedures relevant to practice area. Uses basic data
entry, retrieval systems, and electronic medical record
documentation in a proficient manner. Must have pediatric
