Job Description Job Title: Surgical Technician / Technician Location: Brooklyn, NY (Major Medical Center in a busy Labor & Delivery Unit) Pay Rate: $47 per hour Contract: 12/01/2025 - 03/03/2026 Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join a dynamic Labor & Delivery team in Brooklyn, NY. This position is based in a large, high-acuity medical center known for its fast-paced environment and commitment to exceptional patient care. The Surgical Technician will play a key role in assisting physicians and nurses during obstetric and gynecologic surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and maintaining sterile technique throughout all operations. Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are properly sterilized and organized. Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other sterile supplies. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to requests during operations. Ensure proper handling and disposal of specimens, instruments, and materials. Maintain and track surgical equipment and supplies to ensure readiness and proper inventory. Adhere to infection control policies and maintain a sterile field at all times. Support the Labor & Delivery team with pre-, intra-, and post-operative care as needed. Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care. Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required. Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred. Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Labor & Delivery or a related surgical setting strongly preferred. Excellent knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical instrumentation, and obstetric procedures. Strong communication and teamwork skills with attention to detail and patient safety.
