Job Description /n /n /n /n /n /n /n /n Job Description /n Assists nursing personnel in giving quality care to patients in the operating room. /n Job Responsibility /n /n 1. Performs duties and responsibilities of a ‘scrub’ person under the direction of a registered, professional nurse. /n 2. Checks and gathers all instruments for each case in assigned room with use of surgeon’s preference card. /n 3. Checks sterility tapes, dates and integrity of wrappers. /n 4. Assists circulating nurse in obtaining supplies, equipment and opening of rooms, as necessary. /n 5. Opens sterile supplies for assigned cases. Performs surgical scrub technique and gown and glove procedure for self and surgical team. Maintains a sterile field and takes immediate action to correct any breaks in technique. /n 6. Arranges instruments, basins, sutures and so forth in a precise manner to allow for accurate counting at completion of procedure. /n 7. Assists circulating nurse with counts of all sponges, laps, peanuts, cottonoids, needles, reels, vessel loops, umbilical tape, penrose drains, devices and instruments. /n 8. Uses all devices and instruments appropriately. Performs standard draping technique. /n 9. Passes and handles instruments to surgical team in a safe and efficient manner. /n 10. Breaks down setup and prepares instruments for sterilization. /n 11. Performs related duties, as required. /n /n Job Qualification /n /n - High School Diploma or equivalent, required. /n - Successful completion of program from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist, and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), required. /n - Must be and remain in good standing with NYS regulations, required. /n /n /n /n /n /n /n /n /n /n *Additional Salary Detail /n The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
