Cynet Health to find a qualified PICU RN in New York City, New
York, 10029! Job Title: Pediatric ICU Clinical Nurse Profession: RN
Specialty: PICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Hours
per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of PICU experience in
a hospital setting License: Current registration as a Registered
Nurse Certifications: BLS, PALS required Must-Have: BSN, Minimum of
1 year pediatric ICU/Critical Care experience Description: The
Pediatric ICU Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who
provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and
research to a designated group of patients and significant others.
Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the
professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. Applies
the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based
practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. Assesses
and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking
skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment
and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the
development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching,
rounding, coaching, and planning “after hospital care,” delegating
to others as appropriate. Educates patients and caregivers about
their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and
prevention of disease while anticipating needs and readiness to
learn. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients,
families, and all members of the interdisciplinary patient care
team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of
Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrates effective allocation of
material resources. Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered
Care through facilitation of various actions including admission
welcome, bedside shift report, and purposeful hourly rounding.
Considers the patient’s values, preferences, cultural diversity,
expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes
and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and
family. Uses evidence-based practices to increase understanding of
patients’ perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for
patients and family members who have concerns and escalates to the
appropriate management as needed. Demonstrates caring, respect,
compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue, body
language, and actions. Supports staff in using evidence-based
practices to enhance understanding of patients’ perceptions of
care. Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients
addressing their needs. Practices safe and efficient
patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and
opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and
knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population
served. Implements process improvement strategies based on
institutional evidence-based procedures. Engages in formal and
informal peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with
interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement
projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research
studies. Contributes to quality and safety practices and required
compliance measures. Implements principles of high reliability to
identify and avoid high-risk behaviors to provide a safe
environment for patients. Escalates potential safety hazards or
gaps from best practice following the appropriate protocol.
Utilizes information technology by documenting nursing practice to
support quality and performance improvement initiatives. Possesses
relevant clinical competence in the area of critical care
pediatrics nursing practice assigned. Exhibits abilities to
maintain interpersonal relationships and communicate appropriately
to solve problems efficiently. Demonstrates the ability to work in
a team displaying effective communication and critical thinking.
Ability to assess patient status using visual, physical, auditory,
and cognitive abilities. Maintains the physical and mental health
necessary to care for acutely ill patients with a broad variety of
diagnoses. Demonstrates physical capabilities to walk, stand, lift,
stoop, push, and respond quickly in various situations. Shows
manual dexterity to perform a variety of clinical procedures
relevant to nursing practice. Utilizes basic data entry and
electronic medical record documentation system proficiently. 5
