Registered Nurse (RN) | Labor & Delivery Location: New York City, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,705 per week Shift Information: 3 days x 11 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7 am - 7:30 pm Hours per Shift: 11.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience, 2 years of intrapartum experience License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: EPIC experience highly preferred Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers while anticipating needs and readiness to learn about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing efficiently. Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through various patient engagement actions. Considers the patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family. Uses evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns and escalates to appropriate management as needed. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue, body language, and actions. Supports staff in the use of evidence-based practices to improve understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding on assigned patients, addressing essential needs. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care while identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements process improvement strategies based on evidence to ensure compliance and quality. Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects. Contributes to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures. Implements principles of high reliability to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors. Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps from best practice following the chain of command. Utilizes institutional information technology by documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned. Coordinates with management to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient for patient care. Escalates material or staffing resource deficits to appropriate management. Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care. Documents in an accurate and thorough manner in compliance with legal requirements and standards of care. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and their families. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice to progress from novice to expert. Projects a professional image to colleagues and communicates with styles demonstrating caring and respect. Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patient and family care. Encourages and demonstrates a spirit of scholarship and life-long learning. Acquires knowledge and skills relevant to the role, patient population, and clinical specialty. Participates in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives.
