Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7am - 7:30pm Hours per Shift: 34.5 Experience: Minimum of 2 years RN experience; 2 years of cardiology, telemetry, and VAD experience preferred; 1 year travel experience for travel positions License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Bachelor's degree with a major in nursing preferred - Associate degree in nursing considered only with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN program Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care based on nursing theory and research. Delivers patient care by incorporating the principles of Relationship Centered Care. Applies the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved nursing standards. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care, and delegates to others as appropriate. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. Role models the principles of Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions. Considers patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and family members with concerns. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue and actions. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement. Implements process improvement strategies based on evidence and institutional procedures. Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects. Contributes to quality and safety practices. Utilizes institutional technology by documenting nursing practice to support quality improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned. Coordinates with nursing management to ensure supplies are utilized efficiently. Escalates material or staffing resource deficits to management. Documents in an accurate and thorough manner in compliance with regulatory and legal standards. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to a positive environment to support clinical colleagues, patients, and families. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice. Projects a professional image and communicates with respect and compassion. Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families.
