Psychiatry - Physician We are seeking a board-eligible or
board-certified Addiction Medicine Psychiatrist to join our team at
a prominent medical center in New York City. This role focuses on
delivering outpatient addiction and opioid treatment services
grounded in evidence-based methodologies. Responsibilities include
diagnosing and managing substance use disorders and co-occurring
conditions, overseeing medication protocols, educating patients,
and collaborating with a diverse healthcare team. Additionally, the
position entails teaching duties and involvement in quality
assurance initiatives, emphasizing patient-centered and culturally
competent care within a large urban public health framework. Our
organization is looking to add an Addiction Medicine Psychiatrist
to our team at a leading medical facility. This center is a modern,
state-of-the-art Level 1 Trauma Center located in a safe and
appealing neighborhood in the Bronx, just 20 minutes from
Manhattan. It is affiliated with another hospital and serves as a
teaching site for a prestigious medical college. The facility
provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services
across various medical and surgical specialties, including
Psychiatry. The Psychiatry Department features 89 adult acute
inpatient beds, a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program
(CPEP), a Consultation/Liaison Service, an Adult Ambulatory
Practice, and a Community-Based Assertive Treatment Program. We
utilize evidence-based practices to ensure the highest quality of
care, respecting the individuality, culture, and community of our

capability. Opportunity Highlights: Provide clinical care for
patients in the outpatient addiction clinic and opioid treatment
program under the guidance of the Medical Director of Addiction
Services. Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and substance
use assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations. Diagnose
substance use disorders and related conditions, recommending
appropriate treatment based on care criteria. Identify and address
mental health and medical issues associated with addiction
treatment. Manage and prescribe medications for addiction
treatment, including for opioid and alcohol use disorders. Oversee
pharmacotherapeutic interventions for co-occurring disorders as
clinically necessary. Administer medications in compliance with
established policies and regulations. Provide education on opioid
overdose prevention, naloxone training, and distribute harm
reduction resources to patients and their families. Timely review
and act on lab results and other medical information. Facilitate
care coordination and make necessary referrals. Build therapeutic
relationships with patients, employing motivational interviewing
techniques to engage them in their recovery. Maintain patient
confidentiality and uphold their rights. Communicate effectively
with the multidisciplinary treatment team, sharing ongoing
assessments and insights. Identify clinical challenges and propose
treatment goals and interventions with expected timelines. Monitor
patient progress and evaluate the appropriateness of ongoing
treatment and care levels. Contribute to the development of
Treatment Plans and Utilization Reviews. Engage in daily team
meetings, regular staff gatherings, case discussions, and
departmental Grand Rounds. Ensure a safe and quality-focused
environment for patient care by adhering to all policies and
procedures. Assess emergency situations, including suicide risk,
and take appropriate actions as per protocols. Participate in
medical and behavioral emergency codes as required. Complete
incident reports and participate in investigations and improvement
initiatives. Educate and mentor fellows, residents, and medical
students in addiction services, preparing didactic presentations as
necessary. Assist in onboarding new physicians and staff within
addiction services. Comply with clinical standards as per area
policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring timely and accurate
documentation. Support medical leadership in Quality Assurance and
Process Improvement initiatives as needed. Provide coverage for
colleagues in addiction services when necessary. Qualifications
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry. Subspecialty Board
Certification in Addiction Medicine (ABAM) or Addiction Psychiatry
(AAAP) (Current or expected within 4 years). Valid medical license
to practice in New York State. Active DEA Registration, including a
waiver to prescribe buprenorphine (Current or expected within 6
months). Minimum of one year of education, training, or experience
in substance use disorder services. Compensation and Benefits: Base
annual salary: $267,900* (board eligible); $278,200* (board
certified) based on a 40-hour work week. Additional compensation is
available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours. The estimated
total annual compensation package is approximately $438,690 (board
eligible) and $450,020 (board certified) , which encompasses the
base salary, 401(k) contributions, sessional/per diem hours, and
other factors outlined below: Estimated annual compensation for 10
additional sessional/per diem hours worked weekly is $104,000.
Potential bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s
average), contingent on achieving quality and productivity goals.
401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS limits): Immediate
vesting in a 3% company contribution of base earnings, with no
employee match required. After one year of service, an additional
7% company contribution of base earnings is provided, with no
employee match required. Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME)
reimbursement. Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick,
Holiday, and CME days. Comprehensive Medical, Prescription, and
Dental Coverage: Premium plans with employee contributions
significantly below market rates. Life Insurance and Accidental
Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Coverage: Equal to 2x your
salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) at no cost to you. Optional
employee-paid Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage is available for
you and your family. Loan Forgiveness: This position may qualify
for loan forgiveness through specific state or federal programs.
Medical Malpractice Coverage (equivalent to occurrence-based):
Provided at no cost to the employee. Healthcare and Dependent Care
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). Pre-tax employee-paid
contributions for commuting expenses. Visa sponsorship will be
considered for this role. This position is eligible for the High
Needs Specialty Loan Repayment Program (HNSLRP) for qualifying
