Job Description The SPD Technician II is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. This role ensures all instruments are properly cleaned, assembled, and sterilized according to established standards while supporting surgical case readiness and maintaining accurate documentation. The technician must demonstrate strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and infection control practices. Key Responsibilities Perform decontamination, cleaning, and disinfection of surgical instruments using manual and mechanical methods Inspect, assemble, and package general and specialty instrument trays according to count sheets Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, ensuring proper documentation and quality control Identify and replace damaged or missing instruments Maintain accurate records using instrument tracking systems Prepare and dispatch surgical case carts based on operating room schedules Follow infection control and OSHA safety standards during handling and transport of sterile items Troubleshoot cleaning and sterilization equipment as needed Assist with stocking, transporting supplies, and maintaining a clean work environment Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly Qualifications CRCST certification required 1–2 years of recent sterile processing experience Knowledge of decontamination, sterilization processes, and instrument handling Ability to operate automated and technical equipment Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Good communication and interpersonal skills Basic computer skills, including MS Office Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations Physical ability to lift, push, and move equipment and supplies High school diploma or equivalent required Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays Important Details: 8-week contract position Shift is 7.5 hrs/day (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM), 37.5 hrs/week Location is New York City, NY 10003 Pay Range: $35 - $40 per hour Call to Action: Spots Are Filling Quickly — Apply Now!
