Job Description:

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner will be an internal consultant to our Product and Technology teams on all matters of talent management. You will propose practical, scalable solutions that fit and enhance Newsela's culture within a mission-driven talent base that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Working closely with hiring managers and our recruiting team, you will help identify and map out hiring needs, career paths, and team organization as we grow. As a senior leader on our People team, you will also mentor our team of HR Business Partners and will personally manage one direct report. In doing so, you will ultimately help enable our company to deliver engaging, culturally responsive learning content to K-12 students and teachers nationwide. Why We'll Love You With 5+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner, you have proven success coaching leaders on matters related to teams and talent management, with demonstrated success integrating DEIB philosophies and practices into all aspects of talent management. You establish yourself as a trusted advisor by building rapport, providing expert guidance, and having an understanding of team and business challenges, ideally including challenges and considerations specific to Technology teams. You're also adept in serving as an internal expert on labor laws and compliance requirements (FLSA, independent contractors, etc.). You are a problem-solver with proven ability to identify trends or issues within a team and implement solutions to address the core factors influencing the team and people aspect as well as larger business factors. You are able to balance between employee engagement, team culture, business needs, while maintaining a focus on diversity, equity, including and belonging.
