Job Description:

Reporting to the Provost and working collaboratively with the VP of Student Administrative Services and Deans, the Director of International Student Recruitment and Enrollment is overall responsible for the strategic planning and execution of a comprehensive international recruitment and marketing plan to build brand recognition in key markets around the world, thereby driving demand from students seeking educational experiences in the U.S. This position will utilize an extensive network of on- and off-campus resources including alumni, government and non-government organizations, recruiting agencies, institutional partners, key faculty contacts, and key contacts from Touro University departments and schools. This position will work closely with the Office of International Students and Veteran Affairs, with academic departments and schools joining in the international recruitment initiative and with the Office of the Provost and Student Administrative Services to develop the strategy and to drive the recruitment of international students in coordination with the Communications Department. The key metrics of success for this role will be measured by meeting the international enrollment targets developed with the Office of the Provost and the Deans of the Touro University Schools.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plans and implements an international student recruitment strategy working in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, Student Administrative Services, the Office of International Students, the academic departments, and schools and other central offices as needed such as the Communications Office.
  • Carries out ongoing research on best practices and innovative policies for international student recruitment, enrollment, and retention; presents reports to academic and administrative units and promotes improvements and adjustments to policies and practices or the creation of new policies or practices that will better serve the needs of international students and promote their success.
  • Reviews existing and proposed relationships of programs with international student recruitment agencies and make recommendations to the Provost for approvals of new contracts/relationships as well as changes to existing ones. This includes monitoring the number and quality of students applying to and being admitted to each program at Touro University.
  • Provides ongoing up-to-date international student enrollment training for appropriate Touro staff and faculty.
  • As the Deans determine their priorities with respect to international student recruitment and enrollment the director will support and facilitate these initiatives and goals.
  • Directly engages in international student recruitment by organizing open houses, attending programs organized by other entities designed to recruit international students interested in programs Touro University offers, and providing recommendations for website updates to Deans and the Provost to better attract the attention of international students.
  • Works with the admissions directors of the various Touro University schools to ensure understanding and develop the ability to articulate specific admissions requirements to potential applicants and assists applicants by directing them to appropriate admissions staff who can answer questions regarding applications.
  • Works with the Office of International Students and Veterans Affairs to remain conversant and current with all regulations and policies from SEVIS and other governmental entities regarding the recruitment and retention of international students.
  • Works with the reporting and IR teams to develop meaningful and insightful international recruitment related dashboards for metrics review.
  • Cooperates with the Office of Institutional Advancement as requested to assist in securing private scholarship support for international students.Education/ Experience
    • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution
    • Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field preferred
    • Experience in international student recruitment including working with international student recruitment agents and other agencies
    • Experience working with international studentsKnowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
      • Effective written and verbal communication skills
      • Awareness and understanding of diverse cultures
      • Familiarity with international credential evaluations
      • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
      • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity Skills: Preferred
      • Experience with student information systems such as Banner and with CRM systems for recruitment and admissionsTravel
