Position Title: Lead Database Administrator Department: Technology Employment Type: Full-time Location: NY or PA or Remote Overview We're seeking a Lead Database Administrator to join our Infrastructure Team. The DBA team is focused on supporting internal engineering and analytical teams by creating systems & services and providing guidance to help them reach their operational goals. The organization is transforming to a model where small, empowered teams own the things they build from inception through production. The DBA team in addition to supporting and maintaining legacy infrastructure, will also work to provide resources to these teams to enable them to build & deploy scalable, observable, reliable, and secure applications. About the Job The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and will have an impact across the organization. It will require building relationships with engineers as well as business users and all changes will have to be made while considering their impact on multiple products with active users. Responsibilities Help to define and share the vision for our internal data platforms and services. Research and implement solutions that address cross-cutting concerns. Create and operate systems using pipelines for deployments and evolve legacy systems to that model as well. Participate in Blameless Postmortems of production issues in order to identify potential improvements. Advocate for scalable, observable, reliable, and secure practices across the organization. Iterate over solutions and deliver work incrementally rather than delivering large, risky chunks of work. Mentor and frequently collaborate with people inside and outside the team. Be on-call for services that the DBA team owns and be available during production issues of systems use our systems. Oversee all database operations including planning, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, security configurations and migrations Build & manage databases in multiple environments, from development to mission-critical production systems. Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers. Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets. Help engineering team members write efficient queries Research & collaborate with engineering teams to implement the best data solution for the application/service being built. Skills & Experience: SQL Server 2016/17 administration experience required Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native and 3rd party monitoring and troubleshooting tools Experience with backups, restores and recovery models Demonstrated understanding of complex SQL, stored procedures, database functions, SSIS and ANSI and T-SQL queries and scripts.
