Position Title: Sr. Database Administrator



The Senior Database Administrator will provide database administration expertise as well as operational
support to Solix Production, UAT, and Test environments. The Senior Database Administrator will assert
him/herself into complex database project assignments where he/she will represent Infrastructure
Support Team in all dialogue and decisions around the architecture, deployment, and/or management
of database environments.
The Senior Database Administrator will also take primary role in the definition of database
administration best practices and database development standards across critical business application
areas. To succeed at this function requires that the individual represents subject matter expertise in all
aspects of MSSQL Server infrastructure including MSSQL Server installations , database performance
tuning , backup and recovery, HADR solutions, compliance and security setup and provide excellent
database support
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide specifications for provisioning new MSSQL Servers and manage their installation and
configuration to provide optimum results
Plan database upgrades and patching to avoid operational risks by maintaining application
support requirements.
Ensure database backup strategies are meeting Recovery Point and Recovery Time Objectives
Track space usage trends and ensure adequate capacity for future growth of database
environments.
Provide Subject matter expertise on database design and database performance issues.
Research and recommend new database software in area of database security, database
monitoring and database development.
Oversee production release management processes for database code promotions for various
business applications.
Perform development and test data refreshes as per business needs.
Control and apply database access permissions, privileges and controls to maintain database
security as per organizational standards.
Develop & document best practices for all aspects of MSSQL Server management, database
development & Database operation and Security Involve in architecting and implementing DR
solutions with Always On, SQL log shipping, DB Mirroring, Replication.
Mentor DBAs and Application Developers, manage and facilitate interface throughout
organization to provide database technical support, advice and problem resolution for database
centric issues.
Provide Subject matter expertise on database design and database performance issues.
Research and recommend new database software in area of database security, database
monitoring and database development.

Collaborate between Infrastructure Teams and Application Development Teams for scalable ,
efficient databases applications.
Monitor MSSQL Servers for transaction latency, blocking and deadlock issues, and provide
guidance in preventing/avoiding these issues to application development teams.
Work with external and internal auditors to improve security, and develop & implement
database auditing process, participate in database compliance and security audits and publish
needed reports to upper management

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree plus at least ten years related experience
Experience as Database Administrator in SQL Server Environment
Experience supporting database sizes about 200GB to 2TB in size
Experience supporting multiple instances of SQL 2000-SQL 2014 in production environment with
components including SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, Clusters.
Experience with Database Management and database monitoring tools such as DMVs, PerfMon,
Profiler, Extended Events, third party tools such as Spotlight, Foglight , Performance Analyzer,
Redgate SQL Monitor, Idera Diagnostic Manager, Idera SQLSafe , Litespeed
Experience designing and documenting processes and procedures, database migration plans,
database upgrade plans as per business requirements.
Experience in designing, configuring and maintaining High Availability and DR Solutions.
Powershell, C# or .NET Scripting is a plus
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be detailed-oriented, results-driven, highly energetic and motivated.
Able to communicate efficiently and effectively to technical and non technical audiences.
Must be highly organized, detail oriented, extremely responsive and able to prioritize a large
number of tasks.
Ability to provide guidance to team members to meet deadlines and objectives
Strong commitment towards SDLC/Change Management Principles
Knowledge of data quality, data management and data testing strategies and practices.
Experienced with SQL installation on standalone and cluster servers across multi-subnet
environments
AWS/Microsoft Azure Services, Virtualization, Storage Area Networks, Windows Server
Administration.
Travel may be required 5% of the time.

This position is required to ensure compliance with all legal, ethical and regulatory standards for
employment actions. Judgment is exercised to determine when items need to be escalated to
management for approval or resolution.
