Job Description: The Queens County District Attorney's Office
has an opening for an Assistant District Attorney in the Housing
and Worker Protection Bureau.
The bureau focuses on two primary areas: home ownership security
and workplace security. Within the home ownership area, the bureau
prosecutes those who would swindle a vulnerable owner out of their
home through identity theft, false filings, forged documents, and
fraud. The bureau also targets those who scam people looking to
rent a home by stealing down payments and security deposits.
In the workplace security area, the bureau focuses on two main
areas: worker safety and wage theft. The bureau works with labor
organizations and fellow law enforcement agencies to provide the
intelligence needed to identify the bad actors and target them for
prosecution.
Making the victim whole is a top priority. The bureau works to send
a message to would be wrongdoers by publicizing efforts and
results. Bureau prosecutors also regularly engage in public
speaking events to educate the public.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Qualifications: Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree
and be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing.
Applicants must also have:
Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $86,722
to $109,420.
