Administrator IV - Band G Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based ScienceS and Education (CLASSE) The Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based ScienceS and Education (CLASSE) studies particle beams and accelerators, photon science, particle physics and the early universe, and serves students, the public and scientists from Cornell and around the world. The research mission of this laboratory is in many respects unique in the world. Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: * Manage business and administrative operations for the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) * Work with Director of CHESS to develop, implement new programs, materials based on the mission of the program * Act as primary resource for ad hoc requests from the NSF, NIH, AFRL, NYS, etc. * Develop, plan, and manage CHESS program activities such as seminars, conferences, retreats, etc. * Oversee CHESS finances (-25 million/year), in coordination with the CLASSE Business Service Center, including photon subscription, x-ray operations, beamline-specific expenses, education/outreach, etc. * Supervise CHESS User office employees and administrative staff members; oversee CHESS User office operations (database, user experience, etc.) * Manage the nonacademic and academic recruitment efforts for CLASSE. Act as HR liaison, overseeing Salary Improvement Program (SIP), annual performance dialogues, promotions, reclassifications. * Oversee space usage at Wilson Lab and modular units. Collaborate with CLASSE Steering Committee to review and approve space requests. Maintain Space Inventory System for all CLASSE buildings. A successful candidate will have a Bachelor s degree with five to seven years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective communication, leadership, and teamwork skills are essential. Scope of experience should include financial, grant management, and computer applications, including database management. Must be capable of adapting to the changing needs of a research environment, able to receive directions and to communicate effectively across all research groups in the department, and work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment. Preferred qualifications: Master s degree with Cornell administration experience and advanced MS Office Suite knowledge preferred.
