searching for a Product Liaison Specialist to join our retail team
at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. OUR STORY Our

and other highly regarded cultural institutions. THE POSITION As
Product Liaison Specialist , you will develop and execute a product
vision, and source exceptional products and packaging. You will
manage dynamic product assortments in a collaborative environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Merchant: Collaborates with
Guggenheim curatorial team and Guggenheim key point(s) of contact
on product rights and approvals. Liaison between Event Network
Purchasing Team and Guggenheim Team regarding merchandise
assortment management. Holds regular meetings with Guggenheim Team
(to include curatorial) to review and discuss product ideas. Works
with living artists and curatorial regarding rights approval.
Sources, develops, and manages dynamic product assortments that
support the departmental and store goals, align with Guggenheim's
brand, content and collection, and maximize sales potential. Works
closely with VP Purchasing and Assistant Buyer to develop and
implement cohesive, well-rounded product assortments. Develops
custom product in collaboration with sourcing team (both domestic
and import). Identifies and develops relationships with local
artisan vendors. Identifies and develops relationships with
curatorial team. Provides vision definition and assortment planning
for key departments and stories. Works closely with the visual
merchandising team on display and signage to assist with product
execution (as needed). Initiates competitive shopping and analyzes
sales trends. Travels to appropriate trade shows, vendor showrooms,
and factories on a regular basis. Negotiates with vendors in order
to achieve best possible price and terms, delivery, and quality of
product while building and maintaining healthy, strong vendor
relationships. Business and Financial: Meets or exceed revenue
(gross and per capita), SKU count, inventory, and margin goals.
Monitors and analyzes performance versus plan to identify trends,
organic growth, demographic, item, and category opportunities.
Works closely with VP Purchasing on overall inventory health and
new product approvals. Team Support & Administration: Works closely
with internal product development/graphics team on creative art and
product development. Maintains quarterly/seasonal planning calendar
for Guggenheim product team. Special projects as assigned. Skills /
Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of retail product buying and
product development experience. Art Museum environment a plus.
Experience in buying for non-profit cultural attractions a plus.
Managerial/leadership experience important. Full understanding of
the technical and logistical aspects of product sourcing and custom
product development. Direct import buying experience a plus. Strong
negotiation skills and ability to build and develop strong,
long-term business relationships. Strong math and analytical skills
(i.e., inventory optimization) and a full understanding of retail
buying metrics critical. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office;
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to adapt to internal
systems, tools, and programs. Strong entrepreneurial skills with a
desire for continuous professional growth. Strong creative,
collaborative and independent work flow abilities. Must be
self-motivated. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bi-lingual a plus. Must be accurate, detail oriented, organized,
assertive, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Bachelor
of Arts or Science degree or equivalent industry experience.
