Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a HVAC Technical Service Advisor. As a HVAC Technical Service Advisor, you will serve as the primary technical resource for contractors, associates and the VRF sales team for our New York and New Jersey territory. If you have prior experience servicing ductless, mini-split, VRF, VRV, or duct free split (DFS) heating and cooling systems, this is an excellent opportunity to grow with a highly respected distributor within the HVAC industry.

This position offers remote work flexibility and has the option to be based in either our West Caldwell, NJ or Brooklyn, NY office and will be dedicated to our New York and New Jersey distribution territory. Travel within the territory will be required, as needed, based on project and training demands. An auto-allowance is provided.


  • The TSA shall serve as the primary technical resource for contractors and property managers, including providing technical support of the application and design of VRF systems.

  • Assist in resolving improper project layouts using the manufacturer design software, troubleshoot control issues from a single remote up to the more complex building management systems, and analyze system operation using the manufacturer service tools.

  • Be involved with pre-sale and post-sale support to include progress walk throughs throughout the life of the project.

  • Review equipment sizing and selection by distributor's sales team to ensure practical real-world selection and sizing of VRF systems.

  • Complete field inspections of VRF systems for proper design and installation, confirming system and controls are operating within design parameters, including the completion of the manufacturer's commissioning report for extended warranty.

  • Provide technical training to contractors, associates and the VRF sales team, including hands-on training and classroom training of technical materials provided by manufacturer.

  • Provide job site supplemental training as required.

  • Provide troubleshooting support for existing/installed VRF systems.

  • Additional duties as assigned.


  • 4+ years of technical experience supporting ductless, mini-splits or VRF specific products, such as in a service tech, service specialist, service manager, applied equipment start up or commissioning agent role, required.

  • Must have experience with fresh air requirements and automation to include building management systems.

  • Must have excellent communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task and ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Must have past experience providing technical training to contractors, property managers and internal support staff.

  • TSA must have knowledge of and the ability to use a computer, common software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and be proficient at using Web based applications.

  • Local travel required, with some occasional out of town travel, as needed.
