Bed Bath and Beyond seeks talented leaders to join our E-Commerce fulfillment center in Port Reading, NJ and contribute to the growth of our iconic brand. Operations Managers are responsible for the safe, efficient and timely shipment of product to our customers. The position seeks excellent leadership skills, top notch customer focus, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced distribution environment. This position works Sunday - Wednesday 2nd shift and requires flexibility to work other shifts as business needs dictate.

The eCommerce Warehouse Operations Manager will lead a team of Department Managers and manage the day-to-day functionality of a specific area/department within the fulfillment operation. This individual will ensure timely completion of eCommerce shipments in an efficient and safe manner, in compliance with all relevant standards and guidelines, while demonstrating a commitment to teamwork, associate growth/development, and performance. This role will lead the calculation of the labor and supply needs to meet the demands of the current and future business needs. The Operations Manager will be involved in the continuous improvement of their department and the entire fulfillment operation. The Operations Manager does not "sit behind a desk," rather, interacts with the associates on the fulfillment center floor.

About Us:

  • Lead, direct, train, and develop Department Managers, communicating departmental/company standards, expectations, goals, changes and policies to associates. Contribute to a customer focused culture through effective communication, fair and consistent treatment, leading by example, establishing clear expectations and providing frequent and constructive feedback
  • Monitor, maintain, and develop specific, executable strategies to improve product flow, productivity, and quality within the department
  • Solves problems and makes informed decisions that affect the associates, service, and productivity of department. Provides feedback to upper management on associates' concerns and works on resolutions. Conduct root cause analysis on all related issues, document issues and recommendations for improvement. Identify, analyze, and resolve all warehouse management system and process issues
  • Ensure safe and timely completion of the daily workload according to established guidelines
  • Reviews essential data that forecasts specific area volumes. Create and communicate execution strategies to Department Managers. Evaluate workload and other essential data, making appropriate adjustments to accomplish building goals. Analyze and report on departmental/building goals
  • Partners with General Manger and Senior Operations Managers to create RE's (reasonable expectations) to which the Department Manager, Area Department Manager and Associates will be held accountable to
  • Ensure associate safety through education and training, promoting safety awareness and accountability, and by promptly addressing potential hazards
  • Contribute to and support all company and building programs and initiatives. Work with other managers to achieve overall shift and building goals

About You:

  • Available to work extended hours during out Peak period
  • At least 4 years' experience in a Manager role in a distribution/warehouse environment
  • Knowledgeable of a direct to consumer fulfillment operation
  • Demonstrated understanding of WMS
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to lead by example and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, tight deadline environment
  • Knowledge of PC applications. (MS Office)
  • Proven organization skills, attention to detail, follow-through, and time management skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills, analytical, math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service focus

About You A Plus:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Logistics, or related field
  • Knowledge of process improvement processes such as Six Sigma and or LEAN (5S)
  • Manhattan WMS

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to perform physical activity including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, lifting (up to 50lbs), and walking (up to 80% of the day)
  • Ability to maneuver through storage racks, trailers, and other areas of the warehouse
  • Able to communicate effectively, both in person and on the telephone
  • Ability to operate equipment found in a distribution center environment including, but not limited to, material handling equipment
  • Ability to use office equipment including phones, keyboard monitors, and calculator

Job Environmental Info:

Inside warehouse environment 80% of the time and inside average office environment 20%. Depending on location and time of year, extreme high and low temperatures within the building will be experienced. Average noise level within the office environment and noise level within the warehouse is within normal decibel level. No personal protective equipment is required.
