As a part of our spirited, fast-paced, and collaborative team, you will be focused on the creation and management of our consumer-facing drug (pharmaceutical and OTC) content. As part of our commitment, we are focusing our hiring efforts on diversity, equity, and inclusion to build a team that reflects our mission for racial equity in everything we do.

About Your Contributions

  • Manage the editorial strategy for consumer-facing, search-optimized evergreen articles on pharmaceutical and OTC drugs

  • Manage and improve workflows for article assigning, copy editing, and production to ensure deadline adherence
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage a diverse pool of freelance pharmacist writers

  • Collaborate with our SEO and Product teams and understand how to stay on top of traffic and growth initiatives while adhering to editorial best practices
  • Recruit and manage a staff editor team
  • Help shape and define editorial strategy, increase audience, and drive user engagement, working closely with the Editorial Director and the editorial team
  • Track issues that arise and discuss with team members to address and resolve
  • Participate in team meetings to contribute to shared content goals and strategy

About You

  • 5+ years of relevant experience developing online editorial content (for a digital patient education or consumer health website) and working with content management systems, including 3 years of experience editing freelance writers. It's a plus if you've worked with medical and clinician writers.
  • Must have experience with health content (specifically related to pharmaceutical and OTC drugs, disease, conditions, and treatment) and understand specific nuances surrounding sourcing and credibility
  • Skilled at translating confusing medical and pharmaceutical language into consumer-friendly, engaging copy
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid editing skills, as well as a deep understanding of what works on the web
  • Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs, all the while keeping the Verywell voice in mind
  • Board certification in medical editing a plus
