Our integrated sustainability delivery model provides complete sustainable design services including, strategic visioning, energy and daylighting analysis, and third-party certification coordination.Your RoleAs a Sustainability Specialist at Gensler, you will join a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence. You will work with the Northeast Sustainability Consulting team in providing a full spectrum of sustainability advisory and support to clients and project teams, from pre-design through post-occupancy.What You Will DoEmploying technical analysis and research, you will integrate with design teams to identify opportunities and elevate sustainability for a wide range of world class clients and projects ranging from commercial interiors to ground up buildings and real estate portfolios. You will design and facilitate work sessions with clients and design teams to build consensus, and develop sustainability strategies for individual projects and across portfolios.Undertake performance analysis including but not limited to embodied carbon/whole-building lifecycle analysis, daylight, energy, and climateFacilitate client meetings and workshops to discuss analysis findings, opportunities, and sustainability strategy implementationProvide oversight and coordinate integration of BIM, lifecycle assessment, energy modeling, daylighting and other technical analysis in projectsCoordinate the work of multiple consultants and supervise the work of project team members, including providing training and guidanceEstablish and manage project fees, staffing, and client invoicingEnsure quality control and consistency across all projectsIdentify and maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies, tools, and methods as they impact the delivery of green building designTrack Federal, State, and local regulations and incentives and provide guidance to clientsEnsure sustainable design projects status are integrated into Gensler Digital LibraryEnsure that lessons learned are shared across projectsAdditional Opportunities for LeadershipStimulate internal knowledge and interest in new innovations, technologies, and approaches, educating staff in their use and applicationDevelop new sustainability service offerings, resources, and processesLead business development for sustainable design, consulting, and project certification opportunitiesProvide thought leadership in sustainable design (externally and internally)Your QualificationsBachelor or Master's degree in sustainable building, architecture, engineering, interiors or related field, or equivalent work experienceLEED Accreditation required, additional accreditations a plus5+ years of post-graduate experience in a similar roleStrong knowledge of lifecycle assessment and integration of embodied carbon into sustainability goalsStrong knowledge of building performance analytics, climatic and passive design principles, and integrative design practiceStrong knowledge of building systems, project management, and consultant coordinationAbility to provide technical oversight in other areas of high-performance sustainability a plus (e.g. certification management, specification writing, materials selection, cost and life cycle studies, etc.)Experience with organizational carbon footprinting, climate action planning, climate change resiliency assessment, and/or environmental and social governance (ESG) a plusExperience with data science and/or data visualization a plusStrong leadership, communication, and relationship management skillsInnovator, ability to create and successfully implement new programsStrong writing, speaking, organizational skills, and technical presentation abilityAble to mentor, teach and train effectivelySelf-directed and able to synthesize new information quicklyDetail-orientedA sense of humor and a knack for innovation and problem solving, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented working styleTechnical SkillsProficient user of LEED Online, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesignFamiliarity with Revit, Rhino, and GrasshopperProficiency with building simulation and LCA softwaresuch as OpenStudio/EnergyPlus, DIVA, Climate Studio, OneClick LCAProficiency with NYC and NY State Energy Code, ASHRAE standards, and local lawsFamiliarity with relational databases and data analytics software such as R, Tableau, or PowerBI a plusCoding experience a plusProficiency with Passivhaus and/or THERM a plusFamiliarity with Salesforce, and other project management tools such as Smartsheet or Teams Planner, or willingness to learnFamiliarity with digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, and willingness to learn others such as Miro and/or MuralLife at GenslerWe encourage our employees to lead a healthy and balanced life.
