POSITION: Communications Specialist STATUS: Full-time exempt
LOCATION: New York City (remote is possible) START DATE:
Immediately Literacy Partners strengthens families through a
two-generation approach to education. With our free classes,
community-based workshops, and educational media, low-income
parents develop the literacy and language skills they need to
succeed in today---s world. Our research-based curriculum also
incorporates child development and parenting support to help
parents boost their children---s early reading, school readiness,
and social-emotional growth. THE POSITION The Communications
Specialist is a new position and will execute campaigns integrating
marketing communications and fundraising across multimedia
platforms. Involved in strategy development, this position will
execute strategy and, as needed, also oversee interns/consultants.
In charge of developing a wide range of communications content for
Email, Print, Web, and Social Media distribution, the
Communications Specialist will have a scope of work that includes
e-blasts, solicitation letters, digital ads copy, e-newsletters,
annual reports, sponsorship materials, and program collateral copy.
This position is also responsible for building and maintaining
relationships with various networks including media outlets,
members of the press, and other highly visible and important public
figures. A member of the Development, Marketing and Communications
Team, this position reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and
Communications and will join our team of 28 staff and more than 100
interns and volunteers. RESPONSIBILITIES Draft and edit copy for
various marketing and communications materials, including, but not
limited to: E-blasts, event invitations, event programs, Facebook
ads, print ads, newsletters, brochures, presentations,
infographics, annual reports, press releases, solicitation letters,
and other materials as needed Help manage digital communications
content planning including Eblasts, social media, and influencer
communications Help leverage existing student stories to create
dynamic and compelling content Help develop our CEO/Thought
Leadership blog Assist in researching and curating existing content
in our Media Library Build and manage relationships with the press
and maintain media contact database Develop and manage social media
content strategy, content calendar, and community engagement Track
and report monthly social media performance Assist in the
management and update of donor segments in Constant Contact
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Excellent writer and able to
effectively communicate with various audiences At least 2 years
working as a communications professional, journalist, copywriter,
social media specialist, public relations specialist, or related
field Experience and measurable success with most responsibilities
Track record of excellent project management skills and managing
multiple projects Proficiency with HootSuite and Constant Contact
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities Creative problem
solver Great sense of humor COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Competitive
