The AVP - Sustainability, is a key contributor to the strategic
direction and execution of Alexandria's corporate sustainability
strategy, creating value through achievement of environmental and
social outcomes. The position works within Alexandria's
Sustainability team and collaborates with key internal stakeholders
from corporate functions to regional development and asset services
teams all in support of program delivery. We are open to having

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Offer expertise and provide support for initiatives to meet the
Company's sustainability goals.
* Contribute to Alexandria's climate change strategy, including
developing new greenhouse gas emissions targets and renewable
energy goals, advancing the company's approach to management and
mitigation of climate-related physical and transition risks, and
furthering the company's TCFD disclosures.
* Develop guidance, practices and tools to facilitate regional
implementation of:
* Low carbon and sustainable design, construction in development
and redevelopment projects;
* Low carbon and sustainable operations and maintenance in the
existing portfolio; and
* Healthy buildings strategy leveraging the Company's proprietary
Fitwel for Life Sciences scorecard.
* Contribute to the ongoing collection, management and analysis of
all quantitative and qualitative information to be audited and
included in financial and non-financial disclosures.
* Manage ongoing ESG reporting and disclosures, including GRESB,
CDP and CSA to identify gaps and track areas of opportunities for
enhancing performance.
* Develop and maintain internal quarterly internal KPIs and roadmap
on progress toward the Company's goals.
* Collaborate with the Company's Regional and Functional Teams to
coordinate and enhance the Company's sustainability plan.
* Support the Company's ESG principles for short and long-range
business, capital and operations planning.
* Champion a culture of sustainability through ongoing
organizational communications and education.
* Build effective partnerships with external organizations to
support the Company's sustainability efforts.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, real estate,
energy, sustainability management, environmental affairs, or
related field preferred
* Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in managing
sustainability programs in a real estate organization
* Experience with greenhouse gas accounting
* Experience with ESG disclosures, reporting frameworks and rating,
including but not limited to, the Task Force on Climate-related
Financial Disclosure (TCFD), the Sustainability Accounting
Standards Board (SASB), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI),
Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), the Carbon
Disclosure Project (CDP), the Corporate Sustainability Assessment
(CSA), MSCI, ISS and Sustainalytics
* Excellent organizational and project management skills
* Independent, analytical thinker
* Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills
* Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work within a diverse, cross-functional team
* Ability to travel to Alexandria offices on an as-needed basis
