The Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in collaboration with the Institute for Genomic Health, is conducting a search for a nationally renowned geneticist to serve as Chief of the Division of Genomic Medicine in the Department of Medicine!



Founded in 2020, the Division of Genomic Medicine aims to advance, implement, and scale genomic approaches to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease through patient-centered clinical applications, collaborative research, and innovative outreach and training. The Division of Genomic Medicine interacts closely with the Institute for Genomic Health at ISMMS, which brings leading-edge genomics research to the front line of care, and the position includes a joint appointment as Clinical Director of the Institute for Genomic Health. Through the newly launched Mount Sinai Million Health Discoveries Program, which aims to enroll one million racially and ethnically diverse patients in the next five years, we plan to advance precision medicine research and improve patient care. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop and lead clinical genetics that centers genomic information routinely in clinical care.



Position Description:

The incoming Division Chief will oversee a multidisciplinary, collaborative program that brings the power of genomic evaluation and discovery into patient care, and serve as a knowledge hub to expand the reach of genomic medicine across all divisions in the Department of Medicine. The Division of Genomic Medicine is home to the Genomic Health Clinic, which engages with patients seeking one-on-one genomic risk evaluation and testing, and is one of a few in the country offering guidance to adults interested in preventive genomic screening. The Division leads an educational mission to engage current and future leaders in genomic medicine, and has established a Genomic Medicine Track in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at ISMMS. Additionally, the incoming Division Chief will have opportunities to collaborate with other Institutes and Genomics Divisions in different Departments across ISMMS, including Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pediatrics.



Position Qualifications:

Individuals interested in this position should have a national reputation in the field of genomic medicine/clinical genetics. Candidates must have an M.D. or M.D/Ph.D. and be board certified in Medical Genetics. Candidates must have a strong background in clinical, translational, or basic research in human genetics and/or genomics, and a track record of extramural funding and publications. Candidates must have a strong background and commitment to developing educational programs, as well as the mentorship of junior faculty. The selected candidate will lead all research, clinical, and education activities of the Division, and foster collaborative interactions between clinical and research faculty.



Salary Disclosure Information:

Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this position is $250K-$400K. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
