About Us:The Disney Media and Entertainment (DMED) is the central hub for The Walt Disney Company's (TWDC) international content production, streaming, and linear businesses including, ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, HotStar, National Geographic, FX Networks, ABC, Marvel, Pixar, and Disney. DMED's mission is to delight consumers with world-class, personalized entertainment experiences by creating novel technological solutions for the media content supply chain.Content Platform Data Science innovates and spearheads the analytical products for DMED's content platform. To do this we use advanced machine learning techniques (e.g., computer vision, natural language processing, and audio signal processing), advanced analytics, and statistics to deliver personalization, content discovery, supply-chain optimization, and much more to support the future growth of Disney's business.As a Senior Data Scientist on our team:

  • You will partner closely with other scientists, engineers, and product managers while applying your scientific ability to new challenges in the content supply chain space.
  • Frame business problems into analytic solutions by scoping and uncovering the unique perspectives of our stakeholders and structuring a solution.
  • Design and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models (e.g., anomaly detection, causal inference, and measurement design) to support the intelligence engine of centralized content supply chain internal tooling.
  • Construct well-architected data products and solutions at scale in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Communicate and educate our partners and stakeholders making strategic recommendations for best practices in data collection and data science methods.
  • Engage in continuous learning, finding opportunities to apply emerging and cutting-edge techniques in data science to solve problems in the content supply chain space.Basic Qualifications:You are a strong communicator with great interpersonal skills and an ability to educate cross-functional partners and collaborators in both technical and business perspectives. You thrive on the collaborative spirit of a team that has a healthy exchange of ideas. You are a courageous adventurer and innovator unafraid of ambiguity and constantly seeking opportunities to apply your deep expertise in statistical and machine learning techniques in the digital content supply chain space. The skills and qualifications that you have include:
    • Knowledge of SQL, cloud storage, and distributed file systems
    • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, C/C++)
    • Expertise in statistical and machine learning frameworks (e.g., pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
    • A degree in a quantitative field (e.g. mathematics, physics, computer science, economics)
    • Minimum of 4 years' industry experience working as data scientist/machine learning expert---Nice-to-Haves:
      • Experience with cloud platform technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, Databricks)
      • Experience and knowledge of the PyTorch framework
      • Media industry experienceThe hiring range for this remote position is $143,800.00 to $199,900.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
