- The Anti-Human Trafficking Response Coordinator will work as
part of a comprehensive response to trafficking in the Greater New
York Command, including but not limited to conducting monthly
direct outreach efforts to illicit massage parlors and other places
where women and men are being exploited and trafficked.
- Coordinate and develop short term emergency housing response in
collaboration with law enforcement.
- Provide trauma informed case management for all victims of
human trafficking identified; and work with Salvation Army Programs
and external service providers to ensure adequate survivor follow
up and coordination.
- Develop, conduct and participate in ongoing awareness and
training events internally with Salvation Army personnel and
volunteers as well as in partnership with external
stakeholders.
- Physically located at Greater New York Divisional Headquarters
in New York City. Schedule: Full time; must be able to respond 24/7
to human trafficking emergencies and be willing to conduct
overnight street outreach. Regular working hours: Mon-Fri 8.30 a.m.
- 4.00 p.m. with a 30 min meal break .Responsibilities
- Understand and implement The Salvation Army's holistic and
all-inclusive missional response to prevent and eradicate human
trafficking
- Lead and develop PEARL Essence as a vital and current response
to trafficking in GNY in collaboration with other service providers
and law enforcement
- Serve as primary representative in collaborative taskforces,
currently but not limited to Brooklyn Human Trafficking Task Force
(BKHTTF), Bronx Human Trafficking Task Force (HTTF), Staten Island
Human Trafficking Task Force (SIHTTF) and Westchester County
Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (WCATTF)
- Lead and develop emergency housing program in collaboration
with other agencies and law enforcement
- Provide trauma informed case management for all victims of
human trafficking identified while actively collaborating with
Salvation Army Social Services, Corps Programs and external service
providers to ensure follow up, proper referrals and over-all
coordination.
- Maintain a case record on each participant that includes
assessments, a social history, action plan, progress notes, and
other supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with GNY Advancement Department in researching and
writing grants for program support and continuance, particularly in
the OVC grant application process.
- Collect and oversee statistical data, generating quarterly
reports and narratives for reporting purposes.
- Proactively schedule and execute yearly, quarterly and monthly
awareness and trauma-informed trainings for internal and external
stake holders
- Train PEARL Essence Volunteers in preparation of Direct
Outreach and debrief Outreach Team within 7 days of Outreach
- Ensure that all AHT interns and volunteers complete KeepSAfe
Training
- Travel to and remotely connect with various locations in GNY in
order to further development, collaboration and partnerships with
stakeholders
- Stay up to date with changes and developments in partnership
organizations securing continuity in developing and expanding
fruitful collaborations
- Supervise interns if/when such opportunities arise
- Participate in bi-monthly practitioner calls with THQ
Qualifications
- Master of Social Work, LMSW, with Seminar in Field Instructions
(SIFI) certification (or SIFI must be obtained within the first 12
months of employment)
- Experience in human trafficking or related fields i.e. domestic
violence, immigrant rights, workers' rights in a role that involves
service provision, training, and/or advocacy.
- Experience with trauma informed care with working knowledge of
Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.
- Must have deep understanding of the issue of Domestic and
Foreign Human Trafficking.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
to travel from site to site as may be needed in the performance of
duties.
- Professional-level communication skills verbal and written.
Ability to represent GNY Social Justice Representative in a wide
variety of professional settings while interacting with external
stakeholders and the public representing The Salvation Army.
