ROOSEVELT ISLAND OPERATING CORPORATION (RIOC) TITLE: Certified
Fitness Assistant DEPARTMENT: Sportspark POSITION TYPE: Full-time
SALARY RANGE: $50,000/Annually The Roosevelt Island Operating
Corporation (RIOC) is a public benefit corporation and politic arm
of New York State, whose mission is to develop, maintain, and
operate the infrastructure of Roosevelt Island. As part of this
mandate, RIOC operates and maintains several facilities including
the Cultural Center, Sportspark, and the Motorgate Garage; as well
as other outdoor spaces such as Firefighter's Field, Southpoint
Park, and Lighthouse Park, among other facilities and locations.
Infrastructure operations also includes the Aerial Tramway, and a
free Red Bus Service that stops at various points on Roosevelt
Island; and a Public Safety Department that serves as the
community's first responders in coordination with the New York City
Police Department. RIOC's workforce is also comprised of union
workers from Local 210, 32BJ, PSOB, and other administrative staff.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Sportspark Athletic Complex is fixated on
Roosevelt Island and owned/operated by the Roosevelt Island
Operating Corporation. The goal of the complex is to provide a
health and wellness area for all community members to access to
maintain a healthy lifestyle. The complex includes a basketball
gym, fitness center, weight room, studio, and swimming pool. We are
consistently seeking inspiring and motivating members and employees
to maximize the services provided by this facility to benefit the
community. Under the supervision of the Assistant Manager,
Sportspark, the Fitness Assistant will handle the day-to-day
fitness operations of the newly renovated Sportspark Athletic
Complex while delivering high levels of customer service and
resources to the community. Sportspark hours of operations are
Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and
Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The
following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. The omission

to the position. Deliver an exceptional customer service experience
for members. Acts with integrity and knowledge that promotes the
culture, mission, and values of RIOC. Conduct and deliver an
exceptional Group Class experience. Apply safe and effective
movement strategies. Monitor movements of participants and apply
modifications as needed. Deliver an upbeat and enthusiastic
experience. Monitor the fitness center and organize equipment when
necessary. Provide recommendations on new classes to be held in the
complex or at an outdoor site. Assist with marketing and social
media for the complex. Provide class attendance metrics to
supervisor or other reporting as requested. Report any broken or
damaged equipment to supervisor. Promotes classes and programming
to grow attendance. Provides new fitness class ideas and
programming to supervisor. Assists with wiping down equipment and
ensure the studio is left in show condition. Check on locker room
cleanliness and straighten up where necessary. Ensure all class
participants are registered and checked into class. Ability to
communicate effectively and work well within a team. Assist with
front desk, membership and permit holder registration as needed.
SKILLLS & QUALIFICATIONS : Must hold valid Group Class
Certification. Must hold a valid Personal Trainer Certification.
Must be CPR/AED Certified Ability to guide multiple clients through
programming and class procedures and policies, as appropriate.
Plans and leads exercise/activity sessions in one or more assigned
fitness areas. Sets up and monitors class equipment and ensures its
return in serviceable condition. Maintain regular and consistent
punctuality Able to work flexible hours, including weekends. Comply
with dress code Able to deliver a safe, effective, and fun class

Bootcamp HIIT Core & Cardio Mat Pilates & more! EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate must have a broad range of
skills, but above all, they must be curious, flexible thinkers who
love learning new things and tackling challenges daily. In
addition, the preferred candidate should possess the following: 1.
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized
accrediting organization and minimum of two (2) years of full-time
satisfactory experience in health and wellness or related field
along with gym environment with teaching group classes experience.
2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience which
is equivalent to "1" above. Graduate study in the field of Sports,
Fitness, Health & Wellness, or other related fields may be
substituted for up to one year of the required experience on the
basis of 30 credits equaling one year of experience. Graduation
from an accredited school may be substituted for one year of the
required experience. However, all candidates must have at least two
years of experience as described above. What we offer:
