Job Description - Head of Pricing, US Middle Market
(23000017D20220614) Head of Pricing, US Middle Market ( Job Number:
23000017D20220614 ) AXA XL has a successful large commercial &
specialty franchise serving predominately the "Fortune 2500" in the
US Commercial P&C market. We believe that adjacent the US
Middle Market is the best option for AXA XL to see a "step change"
in its Commercial Lines market share. We will explore building the
critical market assets (product portfolio, distribution network,
operating platform, etc.) to serve this client segment. To initiate
our strategy, we have set up a Middle Market Task Force to explore
the US Middle Market. The Task Force will:
- Develop a "proof of concept" entry strategy to the market to
test hypotheses about what it takes to win
- Based on the findings of our "proof of concept", develop a
scale up strategy and associated business case
- Consider both organic and inorganic growth accelerators The
Head of Pricing, US Middle Market will work closely with the Head
of US Middle Market to build out the pricing capabilities for this
business. DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential
responsibilities include?
- Building the Strategic direction of Middle Market Pricing
through strong engagement with underwriting and collaboration with
product pricing teams. Use data and analytics to identify
opportunities for profitable growth.
- Ensure AXA XL is a leader in the field of technical pricing
through the buildout of pricing and rating tools to support middle
market portfolio that are compliant with regulatory filings
- Develop strong portfolio management capabilities to support
business intelligence and management information, including
calculation and reporting of core pricing metrics
- Develop the Pricing view of loss ratio for US Middle Market
products and ensure pricing tools are calibrated to this view
- Drive appropriate consistency in pricing and portfolio analysis
across US Middle Market
- Develop and support state rate filings specific to the middle
market portfolio
- Ensure the team stays abreast of regulatory and technological
changes that affect pricing
- Closely engage with UW leadership, reserving, finance,
regulatory and capital modelling to support middle market
- Ensure efficiency of pricing processes within US Middle
Market
- Ensure compliance of pricing guidelines with the team
- Training of underwriters in pricing matters
- Gathering local UW data and analytics needs and problems
- Leverage other AXA XL capabilities You will report Head of US
Middle Market. We're looking for someone who has these abilities
and skills:
- 10+ years of non-life actuarial pricing experience, including
experience in the commercial middle market space and experience
working with admitted products
- ACAS required, FCAS preferred
- Strong business acumen, demonstrating knowledge of market
challenges and opportunities and implications of decisions
- Leadership skills to work collaboratively with colleagues to
build consensus.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills to gain buy-in
to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external
clients.
