We study some of the most complex and rarely seen medical conditions - with unmatched energy and expertise.The Lead Technologist operates as a content expert and high functioning lab technologist within the Cytogenetics team. • Oversees or participates in the technical operations including QA/QC checks, system maintenance issues, accuracy of test results, and general sample troubleshooting.
• Oversees laboratory staff in the performance of qualitative and quantitative test procedures. -
• Acts as reference source for technologists in the correlation of test data.
• Implements solutions to problems in processing and delivering highly accurate patient data.
• Participates in QA/QC concerns, which relate to result data delivery and patient care.
• Oversees issues relating to laboratory workflow and productivity. -
• Tracks and responds to questions relating to testing procedures and results.
• Participates in the orientation and training of staff. -
• Provide staff supervisory coverage as needed.This role works Monday - Friday on the day shift.Preferred Criteria
  • Possess strong knowledge and experience of FISH and Oncology Cytogenetics
  • ASCP certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with laboratory regulations and/or CAP inspectionsRequired Criteria
    • Bachelor's degree -in Medical Technology or related science
    • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Educationdepartment - -
    • 6 years experience as a Laboratory Technologist (or 4 years experience with a Master's degree) -
    • Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures
