Position: Food Purchasing SpecialistPosition Type: Temporary Location: Hillside, NJ Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00 or 8:00-4:30 The Food Purchasing Specialist will collaborate with the company's team on developing and implementing strategies to optimize the food sourcing and procurement process and reach organizational goals. This role will also work with other departments and external partners to coordinate and streamline a host of food sourcing opportunities. This role reports to the Food Procurement Lead. What you will be doing: Assist and support the implementation of best practices for all product purchasing programs. Track orders, invoices, and collect bids. Track inventory and transfers. Process checks requests for payment. Complete understanding of CERES within the first month of employment. Monitors Feeding America Choice system. Identify solutions to complex problems that arise from the daily operations as well as from assigned initiatives. (example: Tracking communication, BOL, delivery issues, BOL matching invoices) Prioritize and perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Respond to internal and external customers in a timely manner. ServSafe food handling certification within first 3 months of employment. What experience we are looking for: 3 to 5 years of experience in customer service role. Demonstrated experience building and maintaining internal and external relationships. Demonstrated ability to problem solve, make sound judgments. Must be proactive, detail oriented, organized, and results oriented. Proven ability to work with diverse groups of people. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Must possess exceptional analytical skills and strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage projects independently that have competing priorities, deadlines, and resource requirements.
