Position Summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist contributes in the day-to-day
processing tasks for the Firm's Accounts Payable (AP). This
position processes trust, invoices, check requests and responds to
Firm attorneys, staff, and vendor inquiries regarding payment
status.
As Accounts Payable Specialist you will:
- Prioritize and review check requests for appropriate approvals
and ensure necessary backup documentation is in place
- Review invoices for accuracy of account coding, client
disbursements and verification of sales tax for adherence to
company policies
- Handle application of trust and the release of trust payments
- Process verbal bank verification of new vendors
- Identify and escalate urgent issues to AP Manager or AP Team
Lead
- Research and resolve moderate to complex inquiries concerning
account status, payment terms, etc.
- Respond to all internal/external vendor inquires in a timely
manner
- Review image database and resolve duplicate bar codes and import
exceptions
- Communicate and assist foreign offices as needed with
inquiries
- Reconcile vendor statements and research and correct
discrepancies
- Assist in month-end/year-end closing processes and ad hoc
projects
Job Specification:
- At least two years of related work experience
- Knowledge of legal billing software
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,
and Word)
- Knowledge of standard accounts payable processes
- Knowledge of a 10 key calculator
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize
responsibilities
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Successful candidates will be provided with outstanding career
opportunities and will receive a competitive total rewards package
with the opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses. Expected
Pay Range in New York $65,000 - $81,000.
Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what
final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location
and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and
experience. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWE
provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for
their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary
bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
