Based at NYIT's New York City campus, the Senior Academic Advisor will report to the Dean of the School of Architecture & Design and will have responsibilities at both NYC and Old Westbury, LI Campuses.













Responsibilities









Responsibilities include: Facilitate the work of the department chairs and program directors by:

  • Assisting 2nd to 5th year students with their academic advising processes towards registration. First year advising is managed by NYIT Advising and Registration Center.
  • Providing support during the semester as needed with issues regarding studio assignments, registration conflicts, absences, late registration, withdrawal, drop, change of sections/ classes, in collaboration with the departments'/programs' administrative staff.
  • Collaborating with the Chairs/Directors and their offices in processing approval for graduation, reaching out to bursar, registrar, and admission offices in regard to the needs of the students.
  • Collecting/managing data and crucial information about the academic path of each student in collaboration with the Chairs/Directors.
  • Maintaining full focus and dedication to the students' successful academic completion with resourcefulness and the capability to proactively and promptly prevent and troubleshoot issues.
  • Work collaboratively, collegially and in great communication with the Dean's Office, Associate Dean for Academic Operations and Chairs/Directors on completing special projects related to advisement and student recruitment.
  • Provide guidance and supervision of program and departmental staff in their advisement-related responsibilities.













    Qualifications









    • A Bachelor's degree required.
    • A minimum of 2 years' experience in student advisement is required.
    • Ability to work at the NYC campus 3 days/week and at the Long Island campus 2 days/week, during the hours of 9am to 5pm (with occasional evenings/weekends for special advisement/admission events).
    • Fluent computer skills in the Windows 10/11 environment, with proficiency in MS Office suite of programs, especially Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; shared platforms such as Google Drive and OneDrive, and communication tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Meeting. Knowledge or trainability in PeopleSoft, Oracle, Navigate and other university systems.
    • Excellent project management and proactive follow-up skills
    • Effective and professional communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and in writing.
    • Outstanding work ethic, dependability and proactivity, with an affinity for serving a highly diverse public and student population.
    • Professional attire and demeanor.
    • A truly collaborative and collegial approach is required, along with a respectful, compassionate, patient yet determined attitude.
    • Ability to work both independently and as a great team member with the SoAD leadership team and other staff colleagues.       In compliance with local legislation as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, the annual base salary range for this position is listed. New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.













      Minimum Salary









      USD $55,000.00/Yr.













      Maximum Salary









      USD $60,000.00/Yr.
