We make it easy to find and fund what matters deeply to our donors through a mix of the Goodnation platform and the personal service of Philanthropy Advisors. We currently have over 500 high-performing charities on the platform, categorized into 30 cause areas (and growing) including hunger, education, immigrants and refugees, arts, and LGBTQ+, and so far we have moved $1M from thoughtful donors to deserving charities. Goodnation employs a new structure, termed a contract hybrid, consisting of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called the Goodnation Foundation and a social enterprise called Goodnation Philanthropy Advisors. Position Summary As Goodnation grows, we are committed to offering a diverse array of high-performing charities for our donors to learn about and support. This new role will oversee the development and growth of charities on the Goodnation platform. In close coordination with Goodnation's Founder and Philanthropy Advisors, this position will help lead Goodnation's charity research and development in key cause areas and regions. This role will manage and oversee all charity research and work with the team to develop relationships with grantmaking foundations and other sources of potential grantees to include on the Goodnation platform. They will onboard new charities to ensure our platform is populated with a robust selection of high-impact charities that are presented with accurate and up-to-date information. Once new charities are onboarded, this position will manage all relationships with charity leaders and staff as their main point of contact and communicate with foundations about the participation of their grantees within Goodnation. This position will play a key role in identifying local needs and nonprofit impacts in each of our coverage areas. Core Duties / Responsibilities Research Foundations and Charities - Build relationships with foundations and other potential sources of grantees. - Research and vet high-performing foundations and charities as possible additions to the Goodnation platform, both through a strategic plan and in response to more immediate donor interests. - Using the Goodnation scoring method, score each charity and manage all applicable financial and governance information. Onboard Charities and Foundations - Manage foundations and charities onboarding processes, from start to finish. - Intake and evaluation of charity applications and of foundation and charity platform page forms, ensuring information is sufficient and correct. - Maintain collateral for partners, working with the appropriate staff to make updates to materials. Maintain Charity and Foundation Relationships - Serve as point person and face of Goodnation for all foundations and charities on the platform. - Manage all information on Goodnation charities, gathering additional information as needed. - Organize and schedule charity site visits for donors and staff. - Annually, gather updates from foundations and charities and conduct annual review. - Three times a year, request charity impact updates from funded charities, working closely with Philanthropy Advisors to prepare this information for donors. - Keep the staff, especially the Philanthropy Advisors, up to date on new charities. - Work with the Dir. of Operations and Marketing to share information relevant for social media and other communications efforts. - Work closely with Goodnation's CFO to invoice, process and manage payments from funded charities. - Generate donor acknowledgment letters when needed. Skills, Capabilities and Attributes - Capable of stepping into a new position at a startup and owning and growing the role. - Capable of building professional relationships with foundations and charities. - Comfortable managing and tracking multiple charities at various stages of their relationship with Goodnation, from research to onboarding to funding. - Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills using clear, concise, and professional language. - Excellent research skills, thinking outside the box when necessary. - Resourceful, takes initiative, pays close attention to detail, problem-solver. - Knowledge of Hubspot or other CRM, or must be willing to learn. - Experience managing grants, either as a recipient or grantmaker. - Comfortable working with a small, hard-working and collaborative team. - Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. - Flexible and adaptable to changing work environments. - General knowledge of the way professional nonprofits and foundations operate and an understanding of the philanthropic landscape and trends. - 1-5 years experience working for professional nonprofits or foundations required. Compensation, Benefits and Culture This full-time position will be located at Goodnation Philanthropy Advisors' offices in Centre for Social Innovation at 601 West 26th Street, NYC and will report directly to the Founder and President.
