So whether it's in infrastructure or buildings, our Construction Engineers can be found in a highly technical atmosphere, designing/developing temporary structures and systems, custom rigging, crane plans and/or erection/demolition sequencing for a given project. We have an immediate opening for a Project Manager to work with our construction engineering team out of our New York City office location.Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing/formatting NYCDOB Crane Plans (Mobile, Crawler, Tower, Derricks). Review crane plans and submittals and oversee the CN application and approval process through the NYCDOB Department of Cranes and Derricks
  • Lead Expediting/filing requirements efforts for NYC DOB, specifically Cranes and Derricks (Crane CN applications and inspections) and Best Squad (DMO Drawings)
  • Schedule meetings/inspections with DOB and appropriate parties
  • Daily coordination/communication with client, vendors and equipment suppliers, internal team members and drafting department
  • Assist in Project Management (budgets, schedules, technical/formatting accuracy)
  • Develop and review of Crane Plans and associated Calculation Submittals; including geometry and feasibility studies, site logistics, crane sizing and capacity checks, design of load distribution mats, custom rigging solutions. (Experience with NYCDOB Cranes and Derricks and the filing process is a must)
  • Perform structural analysis and/or stability review of cranes/buildings/structures for proposed construction loading and temporary conditions
  • Development of demolition/erection sequence plans; including the stability analysis of the structure during each of the different stages of construction
  • Analysis and design of temporary shoring towers/systems for both gravity and lateral loads.
  • Analysis of steel and timber structures and associated connections (both temporary and permanent)
  • Design and detailing of scaffolding, fall protection such as life lines and hand rails
  • On-site presence (4-5 times a month) to inspect temporary systems, erection/demolition progress, installation of cranes/equipment, 3rd party crane and hoist observations and peer reviews
  • Carry out designs for a complete project or singular component of a project and coordinate that task from start to completion.
  • Work within assigned task scope and budget, and coordinate with client and team to develop effective and efficient solutions
  • Project coordination-Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work and interacts daily with team members, supervisor and drafting dept.
  • Assists with and/or prepares proposals for professional engineering services.Qualifications:
    • NYCDOB Expeditor certified or Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
    • 3-5 years' experience with NYCDOB Department of Cranes and Derricks CN Applications (Crane plans), filing paperwork and fees, filing process, inspection requirements and process
    • Must have 3-5 years' experience in the Construction Engineering Field (Design) with an emphasis in NYC cranes and rigging
    • EIT/FE Certification is Required and either have P.E. or be P.E. Eligible by April 2021
    • Must have the ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments
    • Strong communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with DOB, Clients, Engineers and Staff through phone, writing/email
    • Proven ability to take initiative and be successful in a fast pace environment with minimal direction.
    • Meticulous and Proven ability to maintain attention to detail
    • Ability to manage budgets, schedules and self-time management
    • Strong fundamentals in Statics and Structural Analysis is required
    • Ability to perform neat hand calculations and calculations using Excel or Mathcad
    • Exposure to computer-aided design (CAD), AutoCAD 2D is a must, 3D preferred
    • Exposure to commercially available 3D structural modeling software including RISA 3D, STAAD, SAP 2000, ETAB, RAM, SAFE
    • Comprehensive Knowledge of NYC Building Code, NYC crane regulations and requirements, ASME/ANSI Guidelines for cranes and rigging, AISC design methods/specifications
    • Knowledge and exposure to NYSDOT, NYCDOT, LIRR, AMTRAK and Metro North Railroad standards/regulations for construction engineering and crane plans
    • Basic understanding and familiarization with means and methods of construction and different types of construction equipment including but not limited to excavators, wheel loaders, cranes, derricks, trucks and transport systems, hydraulics and rigging, form work systemsJob Type: Full-time
