Electrical Engineer, Design and Construction Position Title
Electrical Engineer, Design and Construction Classification Title
University Facilities Design and Construction Department seeks a
meticulous and visionary electrical engineer to serve as part of a
growing internal design team. This group collaborates daily to
ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable design of multiple
major construction projects simultaneously, while assuring the
unrestricted pursuit of the University's overall mission as a
flagship SUNY research institution. In this engineering role,
ongoing responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of contract documents including drawings and
specifications, support of ongoing project needs throughout
construction, and active participation in the occupation of
finished spaces and related systems
- Collaboration with external design consultants hired to prepare
contract documents from concept to closeout
- Interface with outside agencies including SUCF , SUNY OCF , NYS
Division of Standards and Codes, National Grid, NYPA , NYSERDA ,
and relevant vendors to coordinate work
- Serve as a peer reviewer of electrical engineering scope in
ongoing design reviews for both internally and externally designed
UB projects
- Serve as a subject matter expert of electrical engineering for
the University to support ongoing operations, sustainability

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction
Management, or related degree with 3 years of experience in a
design role.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be
substituted for the degree.
- Excellent technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
required. Preferred Qualifications
- New York State registration as a professional electrical
engineer.
- Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction
Management, or related field with 5 years of experience in a design
role ideal.
- Familiarity with spot networks, coordination with low voltage
systems, and demonstration of ability to collaborate with a team of
construction professionals in a large and complex
organization.
- Experience in education renovation and construction projects of
similar size and scope desired; cost forecasting experience
preferred.
- Certification as PMP , NYCCEO , and/or LEED or equivalent
considered. Physical Demands Routinely completes field or project
site visits and may have to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder or
utilize other means to access particular areas of a project site
during construction. Salary Range $88,000 - $99,000 Type Full-Time
