              Background
              UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women supports UN member states as they set global standards for achieving gender equality and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to implement these standards. It stands behind women's equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on five priority areas: (1) increasing women's leadership and participation; (2) ending violence against women; (3) engaging women in all aspects of peace and security processes; (4) enhancing women's economic empowerment; and (5) making gender equality central to national development planning and budgeting. UN Women coordinates and promotes the UN system's work in advancing gender equality.The Ending violence against Women (EVAW) section is part of the Policy, Programme and Intergovernmental Division at UN Women Headquarters in New York. The section is responsible for a number of functions including policy and technical advice and support to regional and country offices on EVAW, supporting the normative work on EVAW at the global level and developing and managing global level programmes.The purpose of this consultancy is to support to the ongoing work of UN Women's engagement on the Spotlight Initiative as well as other gap areas in the section. The consultant will report to the Policy and Programme Advisor on EVAW and will work in close collaboration with the rest of the team members.
              Duties and Responsibilities
              Tasks and Deliverables
            • Support the EVAW Section providing support to UN Women's programming in the Spotlight Initiative. This includes supporting check-in calls with country and regional offices, supporting delivery of key activities as requested by specific programmes.
            • Support Knowledge Management efforts, including knowledge sharing initiatives and the development and dissemination of knowledge products and tools related to UN Women's work and results under the Spotlight Initiative.
            • Conduct research and support drafting on EVAW to inform the development of talking points, briefing notes and proposals.
            • Provide support to country offices on operational or programmatic tasks to accelerate programme delivery.On-going Activities
            • Support the organization of calls/webinars with colleagues in country offices in relevant topics.
            • Coordinate and facilitate sharing of information on relevant programmes and policy work.
            • Support the development of relevant guidance for country offices in relation to VAW.
            • Support with drafting of briefing notes as needed.
            • Any other activities as requested by the Chief of Section and supervisor.

                  • Proficient IT skills;
                  • Familiarity with UN and UN Women system is a distinct advantage.
                    Required Skills and Experience
                    Required Skills and Experience Education:
                    • Master's -degree (or equivalent) in: -Administration, International Relations, Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs, Social Sciences, or a related field; a -first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
                    • Certification in project or programme management is an asset.Experience:
                      • At least 1 year of progressively responsible experience in international/regional organizations and project/programme management;
                      • International development work preferably focused on, or strongly involving gender equality at national, regional and international levels;
                      • Prior experience in the UN System is an asset.Languages:
                        • Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required; -
