Job Description SummaryReporting directly to the VP/GM US Region IDS, the VP Sales is responsible for achieving the $1.5B financial and strategic objectives within the U.S. IDS Selling organization. This position will be responsible for leading Sales, excluding Lab Automation, including all channels (acute, non-acute, lab) initiatives to aggressively grow market share and maintain a market leadership position. This role has clear responsibility for leading, developing and implementing sales strategies for the selling organization including providing principled leadership, clear strategic direction, cogent learning, and development opportunities and coaching for the Field Sales Organization. As the US region faces increasing competition, and new opportunities for growth surface, this leader will need to build upon demonstrated sales success, and be highly adept at change management. Job Description RESPONSIBILITIES: Builds effective Sales Management teams and selling organization. The management team includes, Area VPs, Regional Business Managers, Sales Consultants, and the Sales Training organization. The Sales Leader coordinates efforts with cross-functional leaders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of strategic and tactical initiatives Responsible for establishing a dynamic organizational structure to respond to business goals and challenges, being able to make realignments when necessary to address changing business and customer priorities Develops and implements a business model that includes the strategic and operational tactics required to achieve assigned goals for growth sales, earnings, and market share Establishes close relationships with external customers and utilizes those relationships to strengthen IDS competitive position and performance Enhances customer satisfaction and long term strategic relevance for the IDS organization, through utilization of the customer centricity model Provides clear, crisp, compelling, and cogent communications and presentations to the selling organization(s) and other groups on the business strategy, goals and objectives Has ultimate accountability for achieving the financial and strategic goals of the IDS selling organization. Provides Leadership and participates as a member of the IDS Leadership Team Supports the US Marketing and Business Solutions teams in ensuring strategic pricing implementation, business strategy execution and relating IDS strategic goals Influences the designs of Compensation Plans that facilitate strategic growth and deliver on plan performance Works closely with Marketing to identify needs for the customer market as well as the field sales organization Determines the sales needs and deploys resources as appropriate to meet market demands Works closely with Finance to deliver departmental budget development, forecast/expense management etc. POSITION REQUIREMENTS (AS APPLICABLE): EDUCATION: B.S. in Business or Life-Sciences. MBA desirable EXPERIENCE: 10 - 12 years leadership experience and demonstrated consistent sales success within Medical Device industry, Acute Care sales leadership a plus. Must have consultative selling experience. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: - Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of Sales and Marketing principles as evidenced by comprehension of health care/industry market conditions/trends. - Exhibited proven success at the sales level, with ten to twelve years of sales experience and progressive levels of responsibilities and accountabilities in leadership roles. - Has a thorough understanding of specific customer needs and priorities, including platform specific key drivers - Understanding of basic financial principles with demonstrated ability to perform analysis involving sales, gross profit, etc. - Strong demonstrated capabilities to communicate effectively with key customer decision makers, Sales and Marketing associates, internal and field BD management.
