Job Description:

Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste management in the U.S. Northeast region, is seeking a dedicated Safety Supervisor to join our team. The Safety Supervisor will be instrumental in overseeing our comprehensive safety programs, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and enhancing our commitment to achieving zero accidents and injuries. This role demands a proactive approach to maintaining and improving our safety protocols, adapting them as necessary to meet both regulatory requirements and our company standards for excellence. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Plan and conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards. Lead safety training sessions for employees, focusing on accident prevention, workplace safety standards, emergency procedures, and use of protective equipment. Investigate accidents or injuries onsite and compile detailed reports to determine causes and provide recommendations for preventing future incidents. Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and other safety-related events. Stay updated with the latest safety laws and regulations that impact the industry and make necessary adjustments to internal policies. Collaborate with management and other department leaders to foster a workplace culture that prioritizes safety above all. Strong knowledge of OSHA guidelines, EPA regulations, and applicable safety and environmental laws. Ability to conduct and analyze safety audits and comprehensive knowledge of safety inspection processes. Proficiency in accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to conduct trainings and presentations. Capable of critically evaluating and adapting safety procedures. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred. OSHA 30-hour certification.
